Materials
Canvas
Unless otherwise stated, we use 9oz cotton canvas, triple primed, on a wooden stretcher.
Paint
A wide variety of paints are used to create the desired effects, colours and blending.
Oils, acrylics, household paints and other less conventional paints and mediums are used.
Mixed Media
Often a combinations of different paints, including acrylics and oils, along with thickening agents, gels, varnishes and other materials incorporated into the artwork.
Paper
Typically for giclee prints Hahnemuhle 308gsm photo rag paper is used.
Acid free archival photo rag, bright white, age resistant paper. 100% cotton rag content, with superior saturation, depth and colour, and with a smooth matt surface.
For photographic works, Hahnemuhle photo glossy is often used, but each edition, or image style may be printed on a different paper best suited to the desired effect.
Ink
Giclee prints use a dedicated printing process with a LUCIA 12-colour pigment ink system.
Archival pigment ink, UV stable, provides superb colour accuracy, richness, gradation and expression, with the broadest colour gamut. Lifespan 100 years plus.
This process is sometimes used for our photographic prints.
Framing
Hand assembled bespoke wooden framing. 3-D box style frame, 2 1/4" deep by 1" wide face. Smooth white matt finish. Sealed backing.
Used for both limited edition prints and canvas artworks.
Glass
Tru Vue UltraVue UV92 anti-reflective and 92% UV protective glass. Reflection free, enhancing the brightness, contrast and colour of the artwork. Scratch resistant with enhanced cleanability. 98.5% light transmission.
